MUSHROOM
Michel Vecchi’s large, colorful mushrooms seem to move and communicate with each other, creating a magical and joyful world that both enchants us and makes us think. Each sculpture reminds us of the importance of nature and the need to respect it, and it is an invitation to a deeper connection with everything around us and with ourselves.
Michel has always been fascinated by the underground network that connects trees and fungi—the “Wood Wide Web.” This intricate symbiosis, orchestrated by mycelium, allows trees to communicate, share nutrients, and support one another in ways we are only beginning to understand. My sculptures reflect this invisible yet powerful connection, reminding us that life, even in decay, continues to evolve and regenerate.
Each tree carries a message from the universe to the earth – a memory, a soul, and a specific power to transmit to those who approach it. Under the base of the sculptures, there is a spiral of copper that discharge to the ground the power written on every Fungi and resonate with the people nearby.
The installation can also be equipped with a sound system, based on the electrical impulses of real mushrooms that have started to grow on the sculptures over the years. Transformed into music, these signals allow us to listen to nature in a different way and dialogue with its deepest and most powerful language.
