About
Michel Vecchi is a Land Artist whose work explores the relationship between nature, transformation and human perception.
From the forests of Courmayeur to the landscapes of Ibiza, his practice grows from a deep connection with the natural world. Through sculptures and immersive installations, he invites visitors to experience nature as a place of reflection, protection and transformation.
Mushroom Forest is one of his best known installations, created from the wood of fallen or unsafe trees. The monumental mushroom sculptures represent the regenerative cycle of life — transformation rather than destruction. Each sculpture carries a message engraved in the wood and embodies a specific energy.
Beneath each sculpture, a spiral of copper descends into the earth, symbolically channeling the energy of the tree back to the ground and to the people who encounter it, echoing the mycelium network.
Inspired by the Wood Wide Web — the underground network connecting trees and fungi — the work reflects the hidden systems through which nature communicates and regenerates.
Michel has also recorded music generated from real mushrooms that have grown on his sculptures, transforming their electrical impulses into sound. In some installations this becomes an immersive experience where visitors can listen to the music of the mushrooms.
