About

Michel Vecchi grew up at the feet of the Mont Blanc in Courmayeur Italy as a very good snowboarder and a happy soul, enjoying travelling and Nature. He travelled and visited many remote places like Papua New Guinea, Timbuktu, the Dogon in Mali, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Easter island.
He crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a sailing boat a few times and enjoyed helicopter snowboarding around the globe. He experienced many beautiful, remote, and cultural wonders.
He studied sociology and started working in the family hospitality and Hotel business. In 2012 he moved to Ibiza, where, with his wife and 2 kids, they started renovating an old 16th century property, using natural materials. He became passionate about gardening and sculpture.
He actually still lives in Ibiza where he is creating art in his beautiful property, enjoying incredible views, sun rises and sunsets as well as a creative energy that is all around the island.
He is a Land Artist, the love for nature, and his sensibility are reflected in his art.

Mushroom forest
From his roots in Courmayeur to Ibiza where he lives, Michel Vecchi has developed his art, a mirror of his love for nature and the sensitivity it contains. The forest is for him a place of growth, protection, and deep introspection. Through his work, Michel invites us to reflect on the profound connection between us and the rest of nature.
Each tree carries a message from the universe to the earth – a memory, a soul, and a specific power to transmit to those who approach it. “Mushroom Forest” is an opportunity to immerse yourself in this connection, rediscovering the beauty and wisdom that nature offers us.
This extraordinary installation, created using the wood of fallen or unsafe trees, represents the regenerative cycle of life.
Walking among the mushrooms, you realize that each one is imbued with a particular power: Vision, Wisdom, Joy, Love, Magic, Protection, Dream, Bliss, Creativity, and many more.
Michel Vecchi’s large, colorful mushrooms seem to move and communicate with each other, creating a magical and joyful world that both enchants us and makes us think. Each sculpture reminds us of the importance of nature and the need to respect it, and it is an invitation to a deeper connection with everything around us and with ourselves.
Michel has always been fascinated by the underground network that connects trees and fungi—the “Wood Wide Web.” This intricate symbiosis, orchestrated by mycelium, allows trees to communicate, share nutrients, and support one another in ways we are only beginning to understand. My sculptures reflect this invisible yet powerful connection, reminding us that life, even in decay, continues to evolve and regenerate.
The installation can also be equipped with a sound system, based on the electrical impulses of real mushrooms that have started to grow on the sculptures over the years. Transformed into music, these signals allow us to listen to nature in a different way and dialogue with its deepest and most powerful language.
