The mushroom lies at the heart of his artistic language. As nature’s great regenerator, it becomes a symbol of transformation and of the mycelial network—the invisible web of relationships that sustains and connects forest ecosystems. Inspired by this living intelligence, his work invites viewers to rediscover their connection with nature, with one another, and with something greater than themselves.

Many of his sculptures contain engraved messages and a copper spiral hidden within the wood. As a naturally conductive material, copper becomes a symbolic reference to the mycelial network, suggesting that, just as forests thrive through connection, human beings may also rediscover an innate sense of relationship, resonance, and belonging. Rather than conveying new truths, his works seek to awaken an awareness that already exists within us, often lying dormant beneath the surface of everyday life.

In the Mushroom Forest installations, the sculptures are accompanied by compositions created from the bioelectrical signals of real mushrooms that grew on the sculptures themselves and were transformed into music. Sculpture, sound, and nature merge into an immersive experience that encourages visitors to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the living world.

Michel Vecchi’s practice is rooted in the belief that, just as mycelium regenerates the forest through connection, art can contribute to the regeneration of the human being by awakening the awareness that we are not separate from nature, but an integral part of it.
